SS 506 Occupational Safety and Health Management System
The SS506 standards convering OSH management are intended to provide organizations with the elements of an effective OSH management system and also compatibility with other management system standards to achieve OSH and economic objectives.
THe SS506 Standard specifies requirements and guidelines for OSH performance, in line with company commitment and OSH policy, to comply with local legal requirements and with other requirements to which the organization subscribes, and of course with overall aim of prevention of death/injury and ill health and continual improvement.
SS 506 Standard adopts Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) process-based approach, encouranging the Organisations to foster good OSH practices by controlling their OSH risks, consistent with OSH policy and objectives of the company. Level of detail and complexity of OSH management system, extent of documentation and allocated resources depend on factors such as system's scope, size of ofganization, nature of activities, products and services and company culture. This SS506 Standard is applicable to all industries, including small and medium-sized enterprises.
SS506 Standards can be used for certification, registration and/or self-declaration of an organisation's OSH management system and useful guideline to provide generic assistance for establishing, implementing, maintaining or improving an OSH management system. A sound OSH management system in place will assure interested parties of company's OSH performance and proper control of OSH risk.
